This evening's tyer:
Dale Burrier
I grew up on the South Shore of Long Island, New York and
have been fishing as long as I can remember.
I started my fishing career in the salt, fishing for the local flounder,
fluke, weak fish, bluefish and striped bass.
I picked up a fly rod in 1964 and have enjoyed fly fishing ever since.
I worked as a commercial clam digger putting myself through
college and left New York with a Master’s degree in geology and went to
work for Texaco in Houston.
In the Houston area I fly fished for redfish, flounder
and speckled trout in the local bay systems.
I had done some fly tying as a kid but really increased my knowledge
through the local fly fishing club in Houston.
I tied primarily salt water patterns.
After retiring and moving to Rogue River, my fly tying enthusiasm
has been rejuvenated and I have immensely enjoyed our club. Lots of fantastic fly tyers in the group with
a lot of local knowledge to be shared.
I started Euro nymphing a couple of years ago and will be sharing a couple of patterns this evening.
There is a story behind the picture (of me age 14) I chose for this
presentation. You will have to join me
on May 12th to hear, “The rest of the story.”
