The January SOFT meeting will be held on Tuesday the 12th. Our program this month, entitled “The Further Adventures of the Soft Hackle, will be presented by Peter Giffin, with attention paid to Steelhead patterns and some unusual techniques. Pete is a new member this year but not new to fly tying. He is a former Orvis guide and tying instructor in Colorado, a former member of the Northwest Atlantic Salmon Tiers Guild, and has experience fishing the Rogue and Umpqua rivers. So join us for an evening of sharing the art. Meeting starts at 6 pm and the demo will start at 6:30.
We are a group of Fly Tyers who want to improve our tying skills. We come from as far north as Roseburg, Oregon and as far south as Yreka, California to converge on Gold Hill, Oregon. We are all different skill levels but we agree on the joy of Fly Tying.

SOFT MEETING, DECEMBER 8th
The December SOFT meeting will
be held on Tuesday the 8th and will feature tying demonstrations by Dave and
Cathy Hamilton. These two received the Fly Tyers of the Year Award from the
Oregon Council at the Expo in Albany last spring so we are in for a real treat
this month. Dave plans to tie some chironomid patterns and a feruled red worm.
Cathy will demo the Bitch Creek Nymph, a well known woven pattern. Don’t miss
this one , it’s two for the price of one. Meeting starts at 6 pm and the demos
will start at 6:30. Bring some flies or materials for the raffle and bring a
friend or fellow fly tier. If everyone will bring some goodies the club will
provide some Holiday beverages.
